If you are traveling to Europe with electronic gadgets, remember that the voltage for household outlets is going to be different than in North America. This means that you'll either need to bring a converter so that you can plug American goods into European power, or find appliances that can handle a range of voltages.

To save money when traveling for pleasure, look into swapping homes. Swapping homes saves you a great deal of money that would otherwise be spent on a hotel room. It is also a great deal more comfortable and spacious than your average hotel room. There are several places online that allow you to make house swapping arrangements.

First thing to do when you get into your hotel room is to check the alarm clock. Lots of travelers have had the unpleasant experience of being awoken by an alarm set by someone else. Be certain to turn off any alarms to ensure a restful experience.

When traveling on an airplane, always be sure to have everything you would need for the next day in your carry on. Since your carry on is always with you, you can be sure that if they will lose your luggage that you will be able to get by on the next day. In most cases, airlines should have your luggage to you by then.

Always ask for upgrades. You can't get it if you don't ask. No one is going to offer you a free upgrade just because they like your shirt. When you check in with airlines and hotels, even car rental companies, ask if there are any upgrades available. If it is a special occasion like an anniversary, honeymoon or birthday, make sure to make mention of that.
