“TRAVEL TIPS & BITS”

HIT THE ROAD WITH THE RIGHT ADVICE TO MAKE TRAVEL FUN

By Clay Larroy

There is nothing more exciting than traveling. Whether you are going for a road trip to see something new in your own state, or heading off overseas for the very first time to visit a city you have always dreamed off, there are some travel basics that you should know. Here is a handy list of suggestions and tips that will make your travels a little smoother.

Children

If you are leaving children with friends or relatives while you are away on a trip, make sure to leave important papers like health insurance cards and a notarized letter, stating that their caregiver has your authority to make medical decisions. They made need this information if there is a medical emergency.

Travel in May and October to avoid crowds, save money and enjoy temperate weather. In those months, many families with children cannot travel due to school commitments, making many tourist attractions much less crowded. This may also result in lower costs for airfare and hotels. As an added bonus, the weather in May and October is usually perfect for traveling -- not too hot and not too cold.

Travelers without children should not be too quick to judge or get angry with small children on a public mode of transportation. Traveling with children is quite stressful for the parents as well and they are usually highly embarrassed by their child's behavior. Try to remember that you were once a child as well and if in a plane, recognize that high altitudes are quite hard on a small child's inner ears.

Now that you have been enlightened on some of the fundamentals of traveling from reading the hints provided, there is nothing left now for you to do except to pack up the suitcase, decide on your final destination, and head off to delight in new sights, sounds, and experiences. Make sure you remember to pack your camera!

To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries. – Aldous Huxley
